Overview

This case study showcases the project undertaken by the design lead to create the branding identity and visual messaging for Physician for Reproductive Health's (PRH) annual fundraising gala. PRH is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring access to comprehensive reproductive health care for all individuals. The gala aimed to raise funds and generate awareness about PRH's mission, while honoring the accomplishments of healthcare professionals and advocates in the field.

Challenge

The primary objectives of the project were as follows:

  • Develop a compelling branding identity that reflects PRH's values, mission, and vision.
  • Create visually striking and cohesive materials for promotional purposes.
  • Establish consistent visual messaging to engage and inspire attendees to support the cause.
  • Generate excitement and anticipation for the gala, resulting in increased attendance and donations.
  • Build physical event materials to go hand-in-hand with digital materials for a perfectly cohesive experience.

Process

1. Research and Discovery:

The design lead began by conducting research to gain a deep understanding of PRH's brand essence and target audience. I analyzed PRH's existing brand guidelines, website, and past event collateral.

2. Branding Identity:

The cornerstone graphic featured an iconic symbol representing unity, compassion, and growth, complemented by a modern and clean typography. The color palette consisted of bold and energetic hues, representing the diverse perspectives and voices within the reproductive health field.

3. Visual Messaging:

To create visually striking promotional materials, I developed a set of designs for various collateral items, including save-the-date cards, invitations, posters, and social media graphics. The materials showcased powerful imagery, such as inclusive representations of people and diverse healthcare settings, combined with persuasive messaging that emphasized the impact of PRH's work.

4. Implementation:

Finally, I collaborated closely with the rest of the organization to ensure consistent application of the branding identity and visual messaging across all touchpoints. Regular feedback sessions were held to refine and finalize the designs. The final materials were then produced and distributed through multiple channels, including direct mail, email marketing, social media, and PRH's website.

Impact

The branding identity and visual messaging significantly contributed to the success of PRH's annual fundraising gala:

  • Increased Attendance: The visually compelling materials generated excitement and anticipation, resulting in a higher attendance rate compared to previous galas.
  • Enhanced Donor Engagement: The messaging effectively communicated PRH's mission, leading to increased engagement and donations from both existing and new donors.
  • Positive Feedback: Attendees, stakeholders, and sponsors praised the cohesive and professional branding, reinforcing PRH's reputation and credibility.

Lessons Learned:

Throughout the project, several key lessons were identified:
